The right home adaptation, delivered at the right time, can be life changing.
It helps prevent falls, reduces hospital admissions, eases pressure on carers, and supports people to manage long-term conditions safely at home. Yet unaddressed fall hazards are still estimated to cost NHS England £435 million each year.
At the same time, while £711 million is allocated through the Disabled Facilities Grant, over £100 million goes unspent annually. This is not due to a lack of need, but reflects the growing challenges councils face, from rising demand and waiting lists to contractor availability and increasing pressure on social care.
Since 2013, n-able, part of Norse Group, has supported more than 19,000 people to remain independent, delivering over 71,000 adaptations and specialist equipment solutions.
Our fully managed DFG service helps local authorities deliver faster, compliant adaptations while reducing operational pressure, maximising available funding, and retaining social value within local communities.
n-able delivers a full range of home adaptations, from minor works such as access ramps and handrails through to more complex structural changes including ground floor extensions and through-floor lifts, ensuring every solution is safe, compliant, and tailored to each resident’s needs.
By integrating at any stage of the adaptation pathway, from assessment through to aftercare, we focus on what matters most: helping people live safely, independently, and with dignity in their own homes.
