Formed in 2011, Barnsley Norse provides reliable, cost-effective services designed around the needs of the people and communities we serve. From schools to council buildings, our experienced teams deliver essential support that is professional, efficient, and rooted in local pride.

Committed to sustainability

At Barnsley Norse, we take practical steps toward environmental responsibility. Since 2014, we’ve reduced our carbon output by introducing electric vehicles, retrofitting low-carbon energy systems, and promoting greener travel for staff.

We use telematics and tracking to boost fuel efficiency, and digitised our audits and training to cut paper waste and reduce delivery miles. These actions form part of a wider strategy that balances service delivery with climate goals. We are ISO 14001 certified and work closely with the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) to embed sustainable best practices across our operations.

Investing in people and places

Barnsley Norse supports inclusive employment and meaningful community partnerships, working to create long-term impact across the borough. We support Barnsley Council’s growth strategy and actively support residents facing barriers to employment, partnering with job coaches and The Growth Company to offer pathways into work.

We also provide paid volunteering time for staff to support causes that matter locally, from food banks to public health campaigns. Through our commitment to social value and public service, we aim to grow with the communities we serve.
