With extensive experience in security provision, Norse Group was well placed to address gaps in the existing service while introducing a more responsive and forward-thinking approach, including additional mobile support when required.
Kelling Heath Holiday Park
In 2022, Norse Group was appointed by Blue Sky Leisure to deliver on-site security, night guarding and first aid services at Kelling Heath Holiday Park, near Holt in North Norfolk.
Overview
A tailored and sustainable approach
Situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty between Sheringham and Holt, the 300-acre park offers a mix of woodland and rare open heathland, alongside holiday homes, luxury lodges, touring and camping facilities, and a wide range of leisure amenities. This unique setting requires a security solution that protects both people and place, while maintaining a welcoming environment for visitors.
Working closely with the on-site team, Norse Group developed a bespoke security model aligned with the park’s operational needs and environmental values. A key priority was reducing impact on the surrounding landscape, which led to the introduction of fully electric patrol vehicles. These not only lowered carbon emissions but also reduced noise, helping to preserve the tranquillity of the park, something that has been positively received by guests. Electric bikes have since been introduced to further support flexible, low-impact patrols.
Alongside this, patrol strategies were reviewed and enhanced, with updated strike points and improved coverage ensuring a more consistent and visible presence across the site. Careful consideration was also given to how the team presents itself, with uniforms designed to be professional yet approachable, supporting a reassuring but non-intrusive experience for holidaymakers.
Improving safety, communication and operations
To strengthen both safety and service delivery, Norse Group introduced a series of operational and technological improvements. Escalation procedures were reviewed and refined, while body-worn cameras were adopted to provide reassurance and, where necessary, clear visual evidence of incidents.
Investment in reliable communication tools, including upgraded mobile devices and 4G radios linked directly to Norse Group’s Alarm Receiving Centre, ensures constant contact between on-site teams and central support. These measures are particularly important in supporting lone workers, enabling a safer working environment and a faster, more coordinated response to any situation. A new, detailed Assignment Instruction has also been implemented, addressing previous gaps and providing greater clarity and consistency in service delivery.
Impact
The result is a modern, fully integrated security provision that reflects both the ethos of Kelling Heath Holiday Park and the expectations of its visitors. The service is now more transparent, consistent and responsive, supported by digital reporting and a dedicated team that understands the site.
By combining sustainable solutions, improved processes and strong collaboration, Norse Group has helped create a safer environment for both holidaymakers and employees, while enhancing the overall experience of the park.
