Infinity is pleased to welcome Fire Risk Assessor Owen Jones to our team. While he settles in, we caught up with Owen to learn more about his career and interests outside of work.
Could you tell us a little about your career so far?
My career really got started back in the early 2000s when I joined Britvic Soft Drinks, which shared the same site as the well-known Colemans Mustard. Over the next 15 years at Britvic, I worked through many roles. After much hard work and dedication, I was promoted to Shift Supervisor and then later to Production Team Leader. At this level, I became involved in health and safety, which was critical to our operations. After successfully passing a NEBOSH qualification, an opportunity opened up in the site H&S team, and I spent my last three years as the site lead for Britvic’s H&S team. Following the site closure in 2017, I took the opportunity to re-think my career path and opted to specialise in fire safety. For the last five years in my previous job, I worked for a social housing provider as a Fire Safety Specialist, completing fire risk assessments and providing advice and guidance at all operational levels.
What drew you to this role at Infinity?
I wanted to expand my professional knowledge further. The building types managed by Norse Group and their partners offered greater scope for me to develop my skill sets. In addition, with Infinity being new to the fire safety sector, this really excited me. Being involved in building this area of the business from the ground up will be challenging but equally rewarding.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I am a family man, my partner and I have two children aged 14 and 12, so they keep us incredibly busy. I am a massive petrol-head and enjoy watching motorsport live (in person) or on the TV. I am also a keen coarse fisherman, and on odd occasions when I have spare time, I like to visit the local river or lakes close to where we live.
What are you most looking forward to getting involved with at Infinity and the wider Norse Group?
I am really looking forward to getting to know colleagues from across the business. I am also excited by the opportunity to grow and expand Infinity’s services across the Group.
