A new, 58-home development, where NorseCare will provide on-site care and support, has reached another major milestone and celebrated with a topping out ceremony.
Beer was poured on the roof at Swallowtail Place, Acle, marking it as watertight and highlighting that work is now ready to begin on the internal features of the scheme.
Jamie McDonald, Interim Director of NorseCare, who attended the ceremony, said: “It is extremely exciting to see the progress that has been made here at Swallowtail Place and we look forward to its completion later in the year.
“We are very proud to be part of such an important development, which will soon enable residents to live independently in their own homes, with the support of NorseCare.”
Due to open in the autumn, Swallowtail Place, in Acle, is being delivered by Saffron Housing in partnership with Norfolk County Council, Broadland District Council, RG Carter.
The scheme, for the over-55s, will include one and two-bedroom self-contained flats, as well as communal spaces, such as a lounge, activity room, retail/café space and hair salon, plus outside areas.
On-site care and support will be available 24/7, giving residents and their families peace of mind that support is close to hand if needed.
CEO at Saffron, James Francis, said: “This is another really exciting step as the project comes to fruition. It is a very appropriate time come together and thank all the partners involved as we are close to completion of the structure.
“Swallowtail Place will not only offer much needed homes in the local area, but a wonderful place to live as it has been designed to create a sense of community and reduce social isolation.”
Of the 58 new affordable apartments, 17 will be available to purchase through Shared Ownership.
Tenants do not need to have a care need to purchase one of these apartments but will have access to all the benefits the scheme provides.
