‘Promise’ for SEMH pupils

South West Norse recently celebrated the completion of a new school for Devon County Council and Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust.

The Promise School is a 100-place school in Okehampton for pupils with specialist Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

South West Norse are proud to have provided design and management services throughout all RIBA stages, working closely with Devon County Council and our contractor, Willmott Dixon.

The team carefully designed the building and surrounding landscape to provide a calming and inspiring environment for the pupils, including several specialist spaces to support the school’s diverse curriculum.

The construction provides a highly insulated timber frame and favoured low-carbon materials to help reduce the overall embodied carbon of the scheme.

All electric building services are supported by a 50kW Solar PV array to reduce running costs and building emissions saving up to 20 tonnes of CO2 annually.
