More than 300 staff and sponsors gathered in Norwich to celebrate staff excellence at the Norse Group’s ‘Hall of Fame’ awards evening.

The Group, the largest local authority trading company in the UK with almost 9,650 staff at locations across England and Wales, brought together staff from Norse Commercial Services and NPS Group for the awards evening held at The Open.

Former EastEnders actor, Shaun Williamson hosted the event on Friday night (July 12) where eight awards were given in recognition of the positive difference exceptional staff had made to the company in the past year.

Managing Director, Dean Wetteland, told the audience:

“Everyone here tonight is a winner and fully deserves recognition for playing a part in helping Norse go from strength-to-strength. Warmest congratulations to you all.”

Hall of Fame winners were:

Directors’ Choice Award, sponsored by JMS Group – Great Yarmouth Norse Repairs Team for the bravery and teamwork they put in to save the life of a colleague who collapsed with a severe seizure while undergoing training at work on a cantilever tower. By intervening promptly, and administering CPR, they saved their colleague’s life and he has since made a full return to work.

Team of the Year, sponsored by Holden Group – Medway Household Waste Recycling Team for helping raise recycling rates from 40% to 60% and operating tirelessly come rain, snow or shine to achieve an impressive 98% customer satisfaction rating.

Individual Achievement, sponsored by Softcat – Tsz Yi Chong, NPS Leeds. Tsz is an Architectural Assistant who has contributed to scheme designs and brought alternative suggestions and strategies which have assisted in design solutions. Tsz has produced high quality visuals and helped create happy clients through her quality of work and level of resolution.

Values award, supported by Norse Energy – Kate Crummy, Hamson Barron Smith. Kate started her Norse career as a Junior Quantity Surveyor and worked her way up to become a Senior Chartered Quantity Surveyor, building her reputation through her professional approach, accuracy of cost estimating and scrutiny of construction costs. Her innovative approach and high standards has earnt her the respect and trust of colleagues and clients alike.

Creative Excellence, sponsored by Konica – Adam Buxton & Mark Holden, TEN Creative for their work in pushing creative boundaries, juggling multiple deadlines and going the extra mile to help brand Norse to the highest degree possible.

Future of Norse, sponsored by Centric – Chris Gosling, Newport Norse. Chris started as a graduate back in 2017 and despite joining with little building surveying experience, his capacity for learning on the job and under pressure has shown no bounds. His attitude to work and dedication to providing the highest quality service to clients has been exemplary and he has potential to become an exceptional Chartered Building Surveyor.

Norse Way Champion, sponsored by Main Man –Trevor Fishburn, NPS Humber. A former Royal Navy artificer, Trevor is a Trustee of Hull 4 Heroes, a charity creating a multi-million pound ‘veterans village’. He has committed a minimum of three hours a day of his own personal time to helping veterans and the project and mentored and supported an injured Iraq veteran to complete a half marathon. Trevor’s time alone has saved the charity more than £100,000.

Business of the Year – Barnsley. This was awarded jointly to the Norse Group’s two operations in Barnsley for their strong financial performance and excellent track record of support for the Group’s corporate social responsibility initiative, the Norse Way.
