A multi-million-pound project involving the Norse Group has been officially opened by TV presenter and honorary ambassador Group Captain with the Air Cadets, Carol Vorderman.

The International Aviation Academy – Norwich Ltd (IAAN Ltd) – a £13 million joint venture between the Aviation Skills Partnership (ASP) and Norse Group, provides a state-of-the-art educational and training facility for aviation engineers of the future.

The Academy represents a unique collaboration between the region’s employers, education groups, the local council and the Local Enterprise Partnership.

Norse Group was involved from the initial project stage, producing concept options and design details, providing estates management to identify a site, and handling financial arrangements involving other key stakeholders.

Once the chosen concept was approved, and the project plan was greed and in place, Norse Group was responsible for all design and technical specification including architectural services, design and planning, mechanical and electrical design services, structural engineering services, and specification and procurement of ICT services.

With the facility now complete and operational, Norse Group provides facilities management, including building maintenance and compliance, cleaning, waste management, 24-hour building maintenance call out, security and the ‘Sky Lounge’ café and catering facility.

Norse Group Managing Director, Mike Britch, said:

“We are very proud to have played a pivotal role in bringing this exciting project to a successful fruition. This fantastic new facility will help address the UK’s recognised skills shortages in the aviation industry as well as providing high value job opportunities for local young people in what is a growing industry.”

Operated by Norse Group company, IAAN Ltd, with the specialist aviation expertise and education knowledge provided by the ASP, the facility is now a world-leading facility in aviation education and skills development.
