NPS has been recognised at the Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards 2019 for positively supporting its people and communities.

Our Barnsley office has been shortlisted for the Commitment to People Development Award, set to be announced on 18 October with the overall Business of the Year decided from the award category winners.

NPS Barnsley recognises and promotes staff as its greatest asset, carrying out approximately 400 training days a year and investing over £250k in staff CPD since 2011. They are committed to supporting the younger generation into careers in construction; apprentices make up 11% of the workforce, 10 work experience placements are hosted annually and they support 12 interns through a Summer School Internship Programme. As a Sheffield City Region Enterprise Advisor, Managing Director Karen Temple promotes a greater awareness of career opportunities within the construction industry as well as supporting students from Goldthorpe Dearne ALC with readiness for work.

NPS Barnsley also understands the importance of supporting the wider community, and is a member of the Better Barnsley Bond Scheme which has so far seen £54k released to support 28 local community projects. To date, the company has raised over £40k for Barnsley Hospice and Barnsley Alzheimer’s Dementia Society and its staff provide over 100 volunteering hours annually.

Karen Temple said: “We’ve achieved great people success, positively impacting on community wellbeing, empowerment and resilience by engaging our people locally in making a difference to the things that matter most.

“We have made a clear commitment to ensure that we are seen as an employer of choice.”
